About SpyCloud

SpyCloud protects organizations from identity-related threats by using the world’s largest database of recaptured darknet data to identify exposed identities before they lead to account takeover, fraud, or other cyberattacks.

Challenge

SpyCloud has produced its flagship Identity Exposure Report for 7 years, alongside an annual survey-based threat report – both essential to the company’s PR, content, and sales enablement strategy. As Senior Manager of Content Marketing, Becca Thies leads both initiatives and is responsible for turning raw, multi-year data into clear, credible stories aligned to SpyCloud’s evolving brand narrative.

“It can be a very complex process when you're working with your own data. Especially in our space where we’re analyzing billions of data points year over year, the story evolves quickly and we are so close to it, day in and day out, that getting a fresh perspective is important.”

To deliver reports at this level, Becca needed a partner who could quickly grasp SpyCloud’s products, the threat landscape, and cybersecurity terminology. Without that depth of understanding, the resulting storylines risked feeling superficial, technically inaccurate, or disconnected from real-world cybersecurity challenges.

“The industry we work in is very technical and our product at the end of the day IS data, so having a partner who can come in and understand your space is such a critical piece of our success.”

Both reports demand clarity, but the Identity Exposure Report in particular requires translating complex internal data into narratives that resonate with a broad enterprise audience. SpyCloud needed support striking the right balance – ensuring the content remained accurate, data-rich, and technically sound while still accessible and easy for their target audience and sales teams to understand.

Solution

To help SpyCloud turn complex internal data into compelling, brand-aligned reports, Redpoint Insights partnered closely with Becca to transform raw multi-year datasets into structured, story-ready insights for the Identity Exposure Report. Redpoint worked with her to shape these findings into a cohesive narrative that carried the right level of technical depth while remaining accessible to non-technical readers.

“Having a third party come in with fresh eyes and be able to help us match the brand storytelling to the data is really helpful.”

For the survey-based threat report, Redpoint oversaw the project end-to-end – refining the research strategy, sourcing and fielding the target audience of cybersecurity leaders, designing and programming the survey, analyzing the data, and developing the final report. As Becca explained:

“Listening to us, hearing the stories we wanted to be able to tell with the data, and then proposing some actual language and potential headlines… really helped us figure out the questions we wanted to ask of the data.”

This upfront alignment ensured the survey produced the insights needed to support a strong, cohesive narrative.

As each report took shape, Redpoint focused on balancing accuracy with readability – turning dense cybersecurity concepts into clear, approachable storytelling supported by strong data points. To extend the value of these reports across more channels, Redpoint also produced companion assets, including summary blogs and deeper topical analyses. Finally, Redpoint provided meticulous QA prior to publication. As Becca shared, “The comfort in knowing that I can trust that Redpoint looked at it thoroughly, with attention to detail, makes a huge difference.”

Results

Redpoint’s partnership helped SpyCloud streamline and strengthen the development of its two flagship research assets, resulting in clearer narratives, stronger data storytelling, and more efficient internal workflows. With structured, story-ready insights and a polished narrative delivered on time, SpyCloud launched both reports with far less internal lift and significantly greater confidence in the final product.

Results at a Glance

  • Stronger PR and brand authority driven by compelling data-driven narrative storytelling.
  • More efficient internal processes, with fewer revisions and smoother handoffs from data pull to publication.
  • Reports that consistently ship on time, thanks to Redpoint’s responsiveness and project management rigor.
  • High-confidence QA, giving SpyCloud assurance that every detail was accurate, consistent, and ready for launch.
  • Improved sales enablement, with insight-rich, accessible messaging that helps sales teams spark meaningful conversations with prospects.

The reports have become powerful multipliers across the business, fueling PR momentum and reinforcing SpyCloud’s credibility in an increasingly competitive cybersecurity landscape. Beyond marketing impact, the research continues to serve as a valuable tool for sales teams, who rely on the accessible, data-rich content to communicate the growing scale of identity-related threats. As Becca noted, “the reports are just such a great tool for conversation starters and validation for our sales team. They’re an easy-to-communicate way for them to talk to prospects, talk to customers.”

Internally, the process has become smoother and faster. Redpoint’s consistency, responsiveness, and attention to detail reduced revision cycles and removed friction for SpyCloud’s content team. As Becca shared, having a partner she could trust to deliver high-quality work and thoroughly QA every detail made a significant difference:

“Redpoint is incredibly responsive. I don't think there’s ever been a time when they haven’t met or exceeded a deliverable timeline. Knowing the report will be high-quality and on time is something I really appreciate.”
